Early life and education
Sheilah Amaniyo was born and raised in Kabowa, Rubaga Division in Kampala. She began school at Namagunga St. Tereza Primary School before transferring to Kampala Parents School, where she completed her Primary Leaving Examinations.
She later joined St. Mary’s College Namagunga in Mukono District for both O-Level and A-Level. At Makerere University, she studied Development Economics and obtained a Bachelor’s degree.
In February 2026, she attained a Master’s degree in Economic Policy and Planning from Makerere University. The qualification strengthened her credentials as a development-focused policymaker.
Business and community work
Before active politics, Amaniyo worked as a businesswoman and community mobiliser. She has been associated with JABE Enterprises and Good Man Companies, engaging in trade and supply activities.
As Secretary of the Rotary Club of Mukono Central, she supported maternal health kit distribution, school fees assistance for vulnerable children and vocational skills training for young people.
She has also worked with Theresa Ministries Friends of Charity, supporting orphans and disadvantaged families. These efforts built her reputation around practical service and economic opportunity.
Political career and vision
Amaniyo first contested for Mukono District Woman MP in the 2021 general elections. She later returned to the race, secured the National Unity Platform flag and won the seat in the 2026 general elections.
Her political message focuses on women’s economic empowerment, youth skills, health, education and agricultural market access. She also advocates for women’s land and inheritance rights and wider public understanding of Uganda’s Succession Act.
She describes her approach as servant leadership: being accessible, listening directly to communities and connecting policy with practical support.
